  • Improving the safety management skills of onboard crew in operations and emergencies, as related to safety and environmental protection.

In addition to using training as a means of promoting safe and reliable operations, we have developed and continue to improve our Safety Management System (SMS). Comprised of company and shipboard procedures and work instructions, the SMS ensures our compliance with mandatory rules and regulations, applicable codes, guidelines and standards recommended by International Safety Management  (IMO), administrations, classification societies and the maritime industry. The Safety Management System is continually being evaluated and improved, and is compliant with the ISM Code.

Seaspan has successfully achieved ISO 9000 compliance for its management systems and ISPS (Security Code) compliance on its managed vessels.

Seaspan emphasizes that it is the duty of all employees to act responsibly, and to prevent any injury to self, other persons or the environment. All Seaspan employees are expected to adhere to the company’s SMS to ensure the safety and quality of our operations.
